Sending Text Messages

Text families, volunteers or staff by show, routine, dressing room or person, personalize texts with names, schedule them for later, and understand which phone number is used, quiet hours and message credits.

Written by Joe Naftal

Messaging is included on Essentials and Production Pro. It isn't available on the Free plan.

Go to Messaging, then SMS.

Send a text

  1. Under Add segment, pick who should get it, like a show, routine or dressing room, and click Add.

  2. Type your Message. Click a token like {{first_name}} to personalize it.

  3. Click Preview recipients to see how many people will get it and who's missing a phone number.

  4. Click Send now, or turn on Schedule for later and pick a date and time.

Which number gets the text

  • Families: Phone 1 on the family record.

  • Volunteers and staff: their phone number.

  • Ten-digit numbers are treated as US or Canadian. For other countries, see International Phone Numbers.

Good to know

  • Quiet hours: texts aren't sent between 9 PM and 8 AM in your studio's time zone. Anything sent then waits and goes out at 8 AM.

  • Message credits: on ShowSculptor's shared number, each text uses 1 credit to a US or Canadian number and 3 credits to other countries. Check your balance under Messaging, then Settings.

  • People who reply STOP are opted out and won't get future texts.

  • Messages can be up to 1,600 characters, but shorter texts are easier to read.
