Announcements turns a laptop or tablet into a backstage announcer. ShowSculptor reads your message out loud in a natural voice.
Good to know: Labs features are early-access tools we're still improving. They're available on Essentials and Production Pro.
Set up the announcer device
On the device connected to your speaker, go to Labs, then Announcements.
Turn on the announcements you want (below).
Click Save settings.
Leave this page open. Announcements only play on devices that have this page open.
While the page is open, it tries to keep the screen awake and keeps you signed in, so it can run all show.
Check Out Announcements
Turn on Check Out Announcements to hear an announcement whenever a dancer is checked out, from any check-in screen or kiosk. Edit the Announcement template to say what you like. You can use:
{first_name} and {last_name}: the dancer's name.
{last_routine}: the dancer's last routine in that show.
For example: “{first_name} {last_name} is ready for pick-up at the stage door.”
Missing People Announcements
Turn on Missing People Announcements to call out dancers who haven't checked in. Use {names} in the template where the list of names should go.
On the show's check-in screen, click View Missing People.
Click Make announcement.
The names play on the announcer device. The button only appears when 25 or fewer people are missing.
Test and stop
Click Test check-out announcement or Test missing announcement to hear a sample. Tests play on every device with the page open, even if that announcement is turned off.
Click Stop announcements on all devices to silence everything right away and clear anything waiting to play.
Recently played on this device lists what was just announced.
I don't hear anything.
Make sure the Announcements page is open on the announcer device and its volume is up. Some browsers block sound until you click on the page once, so click Test check-out announcement when you set up.
