Send backstage updates from ShowSculptor straight to a Slack channel your team already watches.
Good to know: Labs features are early-access tools we're still improving. They're available on Essentials and Production Pro.
Step 1: Create a webhook in Slack
A webhook is a private web address that lets ShowSculptor post to one Slack channel. You may need a Slack admin to do this.
Go to api.slack.com/messaging/webhooks and follow Slack's steps to create an app for your workspace.
Turn on Incoming Webhooks for the app.
Click Add New Webhook and choose the channel for your messages.
Copy the webhook URL. It starts with https://hooks.slack.com/.
Good to know: Keep your webhook URL private. Anyone who has it can post to that channel.
Step 2: Connect it to ShowSculptor
Go to Labs, then Slack Notifications.
Paste it into Slack Incoming Webhook URL.
Type the channel name under Destination channel (for display), like #show-ops. This is just a reminder for you. Slack decides the channel from the webhook.
Click Save settings.
Click Send test message. You should see a test message in your channel.
Send Missing People to Slack
Turn on Missing People notifications and click Save settings. Then, on a show's check-in screen:
Click View Missing People.
Click Send to Slack.
Slack gets a bulleted list of everyone missing for that show, plus anyone marked as not attending.
Scheduled show messages
Post a message automatically for every show, a set time before, at or after it starts.
Under Scheduled show messages, click Add.
Set the Offset (minutes). Use a negative number for before the show (−30 is 30 minutes before), 0 for show start, or a positive number for after.
Write your Message. Use {show_name} for the show's name and {show_date} for its date.
Make sure the switch is on and click Save.
Messages go out on each show's date and start time, in your studio's time zone. Add as many as you like, for example a call time reminder and a curtain warning. Click the trash can to remove one.
The test message didn't arrive.
Click Save settings before Send test message, and check that the webhook URL starts with https://hooks.slack.com/. If it still fails, create a new webhook in Slack and paste it again.
